CCS1 EV Station Connectors 80A/150A/200A 300A CCS1 Plugs Electric Car EV Charging Cable
The Combined Charging System allows AC charging using the Type 1 and Type 2 connector depending
on the geographical region. Since 2014 the European Union has required the provision of Type 2 or
Combo 2 within the European electric vehicle charging network. This charging environment encompasses
charging couplers, charging communication, charging stations, the electric vehicle, and various functions
for the charging process such as load balancing and charge authorization.
CCS Combo 1 – The American DC Fast Charging Connector
The CCS Combo 1, using the SAE J1772-2009 standard, is a DC fast-charging connector widely used
in North America. It combines AC Level 2 charging pins with two large DC pins for fast charging support.
The CCS Combo 1 plug provides up to 200 Amps and delivers DC power up to 400 kW. It is natively
supported by Tesla with an adapter and is found in numerous DC fast charging locations across the US.
Key advantages are very high DC power delivery and integrated communication protocol. The drawback
is a larger size and limited usage outside North America. CCS Combo 1 is primarily found in North American
DC fast charging stations are compatible with the plug type.
